Posted on June 1st, 2021

Are you active on Instagram and using it to promote your flower business and florist website? If so, you have taken a step in the right direction! According to WYZOwl, 84% of people are willing to buy a product or service after watching a video.

Instagram has five (!) different ways to use videos as a tool to leverage your brand and establish relationships with your consumers. Learning how and when to use the different types of videos will be the key to marketing a successful floral business.

1. Instagram Videos for Florists

When scrolling through Instagram, too many static images can bore a customer, which is why videos are so important. Take note that these videos will stay on your profile feed.

Instagram videos are commonly watched without sound, making captions a powerful way to portray your content. There are several apps and services that you can use to upload your videos to add text, music, and stickers!

Great Example: Tulipina

2. Use IGTV to Teach your Floral Customers

IGTV is both a stand-alone app and a service found within Instagram. IGTV can be located on your companies Instagram profile, also known as your channel. With the feature allowing videos anywhere from 15 seconds to 10 minutes long, this offers a lot of room for the opportunity to create a tutorial or begin a course.

Great Example: Floret

3. Going Live!

What you see is what you get! On Instagram Live, you should show who you are, what you stand for, and what you do! Instagram Live videos are in the moment and very authentic because there is no retake or pre-recorded option. This feature is a great way to advertise new flower order arrivals and demonstrate how to assemble arrangements! Show your customers that you care about the work you do by showcasing your creative environment. When using Instagram Live consistently, traffic will increase, and your customers will trust your brand!

Great Example: Mayesh

4. Tell a story with an Instagram Story!

Instagram stories act as mini commercials. These stories delete after 24 hours unless highlighted on your profile. These are an effective way to express quick and direct messages to your audience. Using videos on your Instagram story to showcase a promotion, new product, or sale will generate excitement before a grand reveal. With the additional feature of polls, questionnaires, and votes being available, the opportunity for customer interaction is also higher.

Great Example: The Unlikely Florist

5. Keepin’ it Reel

Reels are a fun way to share 15-seconds of unscripted, natural content. They are comparable to Tik Tok, which features shortened entertaining videos. Being candid and spontaneous will keep customers engaged in the material. To achieve a successful 15-second video, consider separating it into 5, 3-second clips. For any public account, this feature can increase your customer reach.

It is never too late to try out all of the different ways to incorporate videos into your business marketing strategy. Taking advantage of the marketing tools at your fingertips and following marketing trends will keep you connected with your customers.

Great Example: Foxglove and Grace, Kristen Griffith
