Okay florists… we finally made it.

After years of reality TV giving us baking shows, home renovation shows, cooking competitions, glass blowing competitions, pottery throwdowns, and somehow even competitive Lego building… flowers are continuing to carve out their own place on television.

And yes, floral fans may remember HBO Max’s Full Bloom, the floral design competition series that brought high-pressure floral battles and over-the-top installations to streaming audiences a few years ago. That show helped prove there was absolutely an audience for floral television.

But starting this June, Follow the Blooms will be taking a very different approach.

PBS’s new series Follow the Blooms is basically floral eye candy mixed with creativity, flower farms, massive floral installations, and the kind of artistic chaos every florist secretly loves.

And honestly? It’s refreshing.

Hosted by floral artist Katie Lila, the series will take viewers behind the scenes into the world of flowers, installations, flower farming, events, and floral artistry, while somehow making everyone watching immediately want to buy flowers, visit a flower farm, and dramatically quit their corporate job to become a florist.

What Is PBS’s Follow the Blooms

Think less: “ONE TEAM WILL BE ELIMINATED TONIGHT.”

And more: “Wow… flowers are actually magical.”

That’s the vibe.

While Full Bloom leaned into fast-paced competition and dramatic floral challenges, Follow the Blooms feels calmer, more artistic, and more focused on the experience of flowers themselves.

Instead of turning floral design into a stressful reality competition full of manufactured drama, Follow the Blooms focuses on creativity, artistry, storytelling, and the emotional connection people have with flowers.

The show follows Katie Lila as she visits flower farms, creative spaces, community events, and unique destinations to create immersive floral installations and experiences.

Throughout the series you’ll see:

– Massive floral installations
– Gorgeous seasonal blooms
– Flower farms and growers
– Creative event transformations
– Behind-the-scenes floral mechanics
– Community-centered art projects
– Florists problem-solving in real time
– Probably at least one moment where you say:

“How did they even build that?”

And honestly, it’s kind of nice seeing florists portrayed truly as artists instead of people who “just put flowers in water.”

Why Florists and Flower Lovers Should Be Obsessed

One of the best parts of Follow the Blooms is that it doesn’t try to manufacture chaos every five minutes.

– There’s no screaming.
– No dramatic reality TV music.
– No one flipping tables because hydrangeas wilted.

It’s just creative people making beautiful things with flowers.

Which, ironically, might actually be more stressful for florists watching at home because suddenly you’re mentally redesigning your entire cooler and convincing yourself you need to start growing ranunculus immediately.

The series really leans into:

– Nature
– Seasonality
– Creativity
– Artistic expression
– Community
– The emotional impact flowers have on people

And honestly, PBS was probably the perfect network for it.

The entire show has that calm, artsy, inspiring energy that makes you want to light a candle, reorganize your ribbon wall, and order flowers you absolutely do not have cooler space for.

Seasonal Flowers, Flower Farms, and Real Floral Designs

One thing florists will immediately appreciate?

The flowers actually look real.

– No weird AI-looking petals.
– No suspiciously perfect fake arrangements.
– No impossible neon-blue roses floating in space.

Just gorgeous seasonal flowers arranged in a way that feels artistic, natural, and organic.

The show highlights how much seasonality matters in floral design and does a great job showcasing:

– Local flower farms
– Seasonal blooms
– Texture and movement
– Natural color palettes
– The unpredictability of working with fresh product

Which honestly feels validating for florists who spend half their lives explaining:

“No, peonies are not naturally available in November.”

Large-Scale Floral Installations and Floral Art

The installations throughout the series are probably what will grab most florists immediately.

We’re talking:

– Immersive floral displays
– Floral art pieces
– Flower-covered structures
– Nature-inspired installations
– Large-scale event work

Creative mechanics that will make florists pause the TV and squint at the screen trying to figure out how something was attached

It’s the kind of floral work that reminds people flowers are not just centerpieces.

They’re art.

And honestly, it’s exciting seeing floral installations showcased on mainstream television because florists have been creating incredible work for years without getting much national attention for it.

Why Professional Florists Are Excited

The floral industry rarely gets this kind of spotlight. Most people only see the final arrangement sitting on a table.

They don’t see:

– The 5 AM flower processing
– The buckets everywhere
– The last-minute substitutions
– The mechanics behind installations
– The event setup chaos
– The floral tape stuck to literally everything
– The emotional connection flowers create

Follow the Blooms does a great job pulling back the curtain a little and showing the artistry and effort behind floral design.

It also reminds viewers that flowers are more than products.

They’re part of celebrations, memories, milestones, weddings, sympathy moments, birthdays, and experiences.

And for once, florists get to be the creative professionals at the center of the story.

As they should.

PBS’s Follow the Blooms and the Future of Floral Design

PBS’s Follow the Blooms feels like a love letter to flowers, creativity, and the people who work with blooms every day.

It’s artistic, calming, inspiring, and honestly just really fun to watch.

Whether you’re a florist, flower grower, designer, gardener, or someone who simply loves beautiful things, the series does an incredible job showcasing why flowers matter.

And for florists everywhere?

It’s nice finally seeing the floral world get its well-deserved moment in the spotlight.
